What stays on your device

Tilvo has no account. Your reading position, liked ayahs, notes, streak, reading plan, reminder choice and settings are stored only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them. We do not receive them; the usage statistics described below record only that a feature was used, never the text of a note.

Content requests

The Quran text and translations are bundled in the app. When you play a recitation, play a spoken translation or open a tafsir, the app requests that content over HTTPS from these services:

Each request names only the content it needs (for example the reciter or tafsir and the surah and ayah), not you. Like any internet request, each service can see your IP address and the time of the request, and may keep them briefly in its server and security logs under its own privacy policy (Quran Foundation, QuranicAudio, QuranEnc, Cloudflare). We do not combine these with anything else, and we do not use them to identify you. We use only services whose published policies protect this data at least as well as this policy does.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not see your payment details. The app checks your subscription status with Apple on your device. Your purchase history in Tilvo (which plan you chose and whether a purchase or free trial started) is part of the usage statistics below.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Tilvo schedules reminders locally on your iPhone (for example, before your free trial ends). They are not sent through our servers.

Usage statistics

The iOS app sends usage statistics to PostHog (PostHog Inc.), our analytics provider, in its EU Cloud (eu.i.posthog.com), which stores the data in Frankfurt, Germany. PostHog acts as our processor under its data processing agreement. We use the statistics to understand how Tilvo is used and to improve it. Statistics are switched on by default. You can switch them off at any time in Settings → “Share anonymous usage statistics”; collection stops immediately, after one final event recording that statistics were turned off. You can switch them back on the same way.

What is collected:

These events are tied only to a random install ID that the analytics library creates on your iPhone. It is not your name, email address, an account or the advertising identifier; Tilvo creates no person profiles and never links the ID to your identity or to data from other sources. The data is therefore pseudonymous rather than anonymous: the events from one installation can be grouped together. Deleting and reinstalling the app creates a new ID. We look at the statistics in aggregate, do not sell them, do not use them for advertising, and share them with no one other than PostHog as our processor. They are deleted 12 months after they are collected.

Where the GDPR applies, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how Tilvo is used so that we can fix problems and improve it (Article 6(1)(f)). Because statistics are on by default, we limit them as described above, and you can object at any time, with immediate effect, by switching them off. PostHog Inc. is a US company, and it or its sub-processors may access the data from outside the EEA; such transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in PostHog's data processing terms.

Tracking and advertising

This version of Tilvo contains no advertising and no advertising SDK. It does not access the advertising identifier, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.

Children

Tilvo is suitable for all ages. It asks no one for a name, email address or other contact details; the only data it sends are the content requests and the pseudonymous usage statistics described above, which can be switched off in Settings.

Your rights

We hold no account or contact details for you. Usage statistics are stored under a random install ID that we cannot link to you, so we usually cannot find your records from a request; if you can give us that ID, we will look into access or deletion. You can stop all collection at any time by switching statistics off in Settings, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Contact us at the address above with any question.

Changes

If a future version changes what is described here, we will update this page and the date above before releasing it.
